Otro Día, Otro TemblorZIHto
This Wednesday morning I was at my desk lost in whatever I was doing when I felt our home tremble, the water in my large clear mug became quite stirred up, and THEN one of my earthquake alarms went off. Fortunately, there was no damage reported anywhere in the region. At first it was reported to be near Altamirano, and later Huetamo. A 4.8, and the depth was corrected to 59 km. Reportedly some hotels were evacuated in Ixtapa. I heard a lot of chatter outside. Some folks felt it while others didn't. A reminder to always be alert.
The weather seems more like summer except for the relatively cool evenings and the browning hillsides. Storm clouds were again visible on the horizon and in the sierra, though unfortunately none passed our way.
The surf has picked up a little. Good for surfers who've been mostly frustrated lately, and great for sleeping at night to the lovely sound of the surf in our bay. The water continues to be warm for this time of year at 28.3°C. Not a problem!
No danzón tonight. Not sure what the problem is. Ever since the ayuntamiento took over the event and made a major production out of it, it's been extremely irregular. Bummer. It was better without the politicians meddling when the dancers just showed up with their own boombox.
Enjoy spectacular views of Zihuatanejo's bay from A View at the Sea, a beautiful and modern 2-bedroom vacation rental condo with a terrace located at the "Casa Que Ve Al Mar" complex. It features a fully equipped kitchen, internet access, cable & satellite TV, 24-hour security, and a pool and sun deck right out the front door. There are still dates available for the holidays. Casi parece un día de verano en Zihuatanejo con nubes de lluvia en la distancia, pero es enero.
