Hey it's 4/20. I forgot what that means. It'll come to me...
25°C was about as low as it got overnight, and the heat and humidity were ready and waiting to pounce as soon as we turned the fans off and walked outside this Monday morning. And they never let up. The weather isn't quite suffocatingly hot yet, but those days aren't far off. The rainy season has arrived early this year. There's a decent chance of rain for this Tuesday and Wednesday. Hopefully they'll bring some relief from the heat.
Tourists were few and far between today. Sales were null and the streets were mostly empty. But I did see a few books being sold at the Feria del Libro this evening. Good to see in a generation that walks around staring at their cellphones and taking pouty-lipped selfies!
I want to give a big shout out to our local panaderías. I think ALL of them are wonderful, and we have our favorite pastries at each one. How lucky we are to be able to easily walk to so many delicious bakeries. Such hard-working talented people at all of them!

The mayor made a big deal this afternoon out of her whimsical new project of tearing down the port captain's offices, tearing up cement her husband laid a few years ago, and turning the pier entrance into another imitation of the main plaza, but larger, with much more hot cement and a few silly palm trees. A few million more pesos for her husband's cement company while we have so many real needs. Comments by locals about the project in the local social media have not been kind. Slowly but surely Zihuatanejo is being drowned in cement. Hurry and visit while we still have some vegetation left.
