Storms passed by Zihuatanejo's bay during the night, their thunder and lightning teasing us from the distance, but it barely sprinkled downtown overnight. This Wednesday morning there was little evidence of any precipitation. But it was warm and quite humid, and I was already sweating before my sweetie and even left our home to take our morning stroll.

A mar de fondo alert has been issued for our coast beginning this coming Saturday. We're expecting waves from 2 to 3 meters in height from late Saturday until at least Thursday. Expect beach erosion and strong currents. I expect the pier at Playa Linda will eventually be closed due to the large swells, so it may be difficult to reach Isla Ixtapa from Playa Linda during the event. Surfers will be enjoying themselves all up and down the coast, including at Playa Las Gatas, but it may cause difficulty for swimmers crossing the bay on the morning of June 1st, Día de La Marina.

The pier remains in the dark and without lighting after dark. This entire "remodeling" project is an insult to the local community, but especially so for the captains and others of us who use the pier daily. The municipal government has its priorities backwards. A damn shame to see such a waste of our resources and such neglect of our installations.

Rain is in the forecast for the rest of the week, with chances increasing daily. Looking forward to it! So are all the plants.
