The sun continues rising earlier each day, and by 7 in the morning it's burning bright and hot in the eastern sky. There were no clouds this morning, and the sun's intensity at such an early hour is surprising.

I forgot to remind everyone that last Monday on May 25th (and earlier on the 15th) the sun was at its apogee straight overhead at midday so that your shadow was directly underneath you. We call it the Día sin Sombra. It won't happen again until August 6th. This only happens in the tropics.

The pier remains in darkness after sunset. Amazing that the municipal government didn't plan for this before beginning their unnecessary vanity project. It's completely unacceptable that it's remained this way for over a week. A total lack of respect for the community, especially the captains and the people who use the pier, by the municipal government. The local half-joke is it'll be this way for the next year. A shame to see Zihuatanejo continue to lose what remaining character that has made it a Pueblo Mágico.

The swells remain at just over a meter, and the surfing remains good. By this Sunday and Monday the waves are expected to reach almost 2 meters, and surfing should be excellent. The water temperature is over 30°C. Not exactly refreshing. This is the water temperature range when things begin to happen and big storms start forming. The chances of rain are high for next week. It looks like we're going to get wet.

Everyone is looking forward to our weekend visitors. Most businesses are having a very hard time remaining open. There were almost no visitors around in downtown Zihuatanejo today.

It's the time of year when we walk the dogs very early, paddle and swim then return home to find the dogs in the pool waiting for play time. They are smart. It's probably cooler in the pool, at least for a while, than the air temp. Later, it's too warm in the pool to cool off. Showers are good!

It's time to love siestas.

Way ahead of you on the siestas!

Siesta is observed religiously in our home daily. Not a time for socializing or doing business. ;-)
