What lovely sleeping weather we had Friday night. Sheets were optional, and the sound of the surf was perfect for being lulled to sleep by. What a privilege to be able to enjoy such things. We awoke Saturday morning to the sound of someone being serenaded Las Mañanitas by mariachis in the distance. A perfect way to start the day.

We treated ourselves to delicious fresh locally grown coffee with our fresh orange juice and a bolillo relleno de barbacoa for breakfast. Careful with those chiles, but it isn't a bolillo relleno without them.

The third tropical wave of the season is currently passing by. It's expected to generate rains in much of Guerrero, though we often seem to be the only place in the state where it doesn't rain. Nevertheless, rain is in our forecast for this Saturday and the entire week. Let's hope it works out well for us and we don't have any flooding. For folks who like to swim in the bay, this Saturday may be the last time you'll be able to swim in clean blue water for quite some time.

The beaches in Zihuatanejo's sheltered bay were full of people, mostly large families, enjoying our perfect weather and gentle surf. It's fun to watch them enjoying themselves and appreciating being here and enjoying what too many of us who live here may take for granted. Especially the precious laughter from the children.

This Saturday night Mexico's national fútbol team plays Australia in a friendly match. This is expected to be quite an exciting match, and across the country and abroad, Mexicans basically come to a stop whenever our national team plays. So if you go out to eat, please don't badger the waiters too much so they can also enjoy the game.
