The rain never returned last night, but this Tuesday morning was still quite pleasant and refreshing. The sun continues rising too early, but our locally grown coffee is so good that it makes up for it.

Most of the local fishermen didn't go out to fish last night, so there was very little to buy this morning at the waterfront market on the downtown beach.

The mayor was seen today distributing blue tambos (plastic containers about the size of oil drums) just like the one Alex Serna was found in. Was she taunting Alex's family, friends and followers or was it just a coincidence? The United Nations Human Rights Commission has even emitted a statement condemning Alex's murder. Whoever killed him, their problems are only going to get worse now that his investigations and documented evidence are reaching a much larger audience, including the state and federal prosecutorial authorities.

:futbol: With the elimination of Colombia today, Argentina is the only American team left in the World Cup. Oops! It's all up to them now. It's not as easy to stop watching as I teased yesterday. :-o

Still no lights at the pier after dark.

Whaddayaknow? The mayor promised shopkeepers in Ixtapa that remodelling the main plaza would bring more tourists and increase their sales. So far, they still have almost no sales, but now it's much hotter. ¡Se los dije! Projections about our summer tourism aren't exactly encouraging, either. Really no different than what we've been getting. It's not apparent at all than any of our municipal, state or federal tourism offices are doing anything of substance or getting any results for whatever they're doing. Looks like a lot of simulation in exchange for their bloated salaries. I'm not seeing Zihuatanejo promoted anywhere. The travel agencies getting the attention of our tourism promoters just aren't cutting it. They aren't sending us people with money to spend. Nothing remotely resembling the "sustainable tourism" that some politicians and their appointees like to pretend exists.

So I guess the "positive" side is we shouldn't be expecting any crowds anytime soon. Hmmm.

Un arcoíris justo afuera de la bahía de Zihuatanejo durante el amanacer nos dió la promesa de lluvia.
