Tuesday morning was more comfortable than previous days. We went for bolillos rellenos at the mercado and they told us they were getting ready to be moved to the back part outside of the mercado for the next 7 months while the oldest part gets "remodeled." The oldest part actually needs to be rebuilt as the cement is crumbling apart and the exposed rebar is totally rusted, but this is more of a photo op thing for the mayor than actually doing the right thing. Everyone agrees the mayor is trying to do too much cement work, and it certainly appears like she's trying to fill the family coffers for next year's elections.

Speaking of criminal activities, there are now huge walls of boulders blocking even more views at la escena del crimen at the pier. This is by far the ugliest, most useless public project I've ever seen here, and I've seen a lot. An insult to locals, regular users of the pier, and everyone who ever fell in love with Zihuatanejo. And especially to us local taxpayers.

Extremely few tourists were around today. Sales remain slow. Some shops and restaurants don't even bother opening. Only La Porteña was doing a decent business along the waterfront this evening. The pier remains without lights at night.

State police arrested several police from La Unión today (the municipio where Troncones is located). Hopefully they'll be investigating here in Zihuatanejo soon. Everywhere I go I find that support for getting justice for murdered local ecologist Alex Serna continues to grow, not diminish. No one has forgotten. The anger remains strong.
