Once again, the predicted rains remained elusive. This Wednesday morning it seriously looked like it was going to rain at any moment, and a few tiny drops teased us as we ran our morning chores here in downtown Zihuatanejo. But like a date with a teaser, nothing ever happened. The clouds hung around for much of the day, eventually making for a colorful sunset.

The mango licuado my saint of a wife made this morning was a perfect way to start the day along with some tasty pan dulce and, of course, fresh locally grown coffee.

Another day with a notable absence of tourists, but it didn't stop the mayor from doing as I predicted days ago and bragging about the NUMBERS that locals jokingly refer to as cifras alegres, as if we'd had a wonderful summer tourist season. We didn't. It was terrible, and the numbers provided by the state's tourism authorities defied not only all logistics but also the actual reality local merchants, restaurant and lodging operators experienced. Her detachment from reality is almost trumpian.

Another mar de fondo event is predicted to reach our coast starting this Thursday with waves from 1.5 to 2.1 meters. Not big enough to cause much of a commotion with the milder tides we're having, but surfers should be quite content. The sea temperature remains over 2°C above normal at 31.6°C in the open ocean.

Three of the properties are located in La Madera Beach and two are at the southern end of La Ropa Beach. One has a pool. All have A/C, internet and personal safes, and all are located near the beach and numerous delicious restaurants. (click to enlarge image)
