Ai hotels
I don't know if this is even posdible but, limit the AI hotels to 5 nights per week. The other 2 nights, of the guests choosing, could be to eat out in the community. This would help the restaurants in the community and the hotel would get the other 5 nights. Their guests could chose the nights they woulf like to eat in the community.
It's certainly a helpful idea. The problem is the All-Included hotels have zero incentive to change their business model. They're pulling in enough guests that keep their hotels profitable while killing Ixtapa's shopping centers and restaurants. They've shown their hand. They don't give a gnat's fart about Zihuatanejo-Ixtapa. My friend Humberto has an excellent idea for local lodgings to compete with the AI hotels. I have some ideas, too, but from a public administration perspective, something that has amazingly escaped the abilities of our municipal administrations for over 20 years since this problem began and when I first wrote about it.
