Possibly Kelvin Waves?

Yes. That's why I mentioned this effect in my comments. At our latitude, they represent a shifting of water from the east Pacific to the west due to the effects of the extreme El Niño we're currently experiencing. Not necessarily visible waves. So they would explain our current oscillation of extreme tides that, combined with the effects of groundswells and storms, are eating up our coast and beaches.
