I was in the hospital in the US when my temp residence expired and I need a " humanitarian" exception.

Have you gone to the offices of Migración here? That should be your first step. They're probably going to ask you if you contacted the Mexican Consulate within 30 days prior to the expiration date of your document to explain your medical situation. If you did so, then you have your ass covered. If not, then they're probably going to say you simply waited too long and should've taken care of it sooner.

If they seem sympathetic to your plight, then the following info is what you need.

Here's the INM website explaining the documents and information you need to provide for a claim of "razones humanitarias."

Cambio de condición de estancia de visitante por razones humanitarias a residente temporal

You'll need to have any hospital documents apostilled by an official translator. My friend Yadira Ríos can do this for you. See her contact info on my PROFESSIONAL SERVICES page under LEGAL SERVICES.

¡Suerte!
