Trip Report Jan 7th
After hitting the rack early I woke up about 5:30 , made a pot of tea and headed to the terrace to watch the sunrise ...... Was not disappointed A's it was a beauty!!!........ Watching all of the morning joggers , walkers, dogs running made me tired out all ready....Mrs Grumpy decided that today we were going to do absolutely nothing but do nothing........ It has been a tough go for her A's she lost her father 4 days before Christmas to a long battle with cancer and I was glad we had booked our trip back in September so at now she had something to lift her spirits...... I was fine with the plan...... Breakfast at Bistro del Mar.... Standard fare, eggs, ham, bacon , fresh warm tortillas , ate them like peanuts so good!!', fresh oj ..... Picked a perch on the sun deckby the pool and listen to the waves crash and the children laugh while they played up and down the beach....... Not much to report on the day.....used lots of sunscreen and had little doses of direct sun at a time cause I turn into Mr Rojo...... Told Mrs Grumpy that she need to go easy as she looked like she was starting to burn....... Hydrated most of the morning away, toss in the odd siesta and soon it was afternoon snack time....... Had some fresh pico, guac, chips and fresh shaved proscutto and melon...... Couldn't resist so ordered a pizza that is cooked on their wood fired oven.....proscutto, tomato, cheese and portobello mushroom , delicious....... More lounge Time after lunch....... It was nice and hot today...... A dip in the pool was the answer and felt so good...... Got out and dried in the sun.....more lounge time and people watching.......mrs Grumpy had a good siesta for a couple of hours and we headed up to the room after 5..........got us an ice cream from the tienda across from the hotel...... Good little shop.....has lots of items from water, beer, cheese, lunch meat, eggs, booze , cereal, milk etc to deodorant and some other items, very friendly as well tolerating my Spanglish.......... Mrs Rojo was burnt from the sun....... Afternoon siesta before ordeimg some room service and then a movie on the tube......Mission accomplished!!!......... That's how we did absolutely nothing today..........13 more days of this is going to be hard to take......Off to La Ropa today..........

MMMMMMMMM……. Jamón Serrano and melon….. our regular in-home FAV, too!!
ISR, a trip to El Comercial might be in order to stoke your hotel room fridge. Bolillos ‘optional’ !
Though Cuidado hombre…… with all that relaxation……. as it sounds as though by the end of the week (MAX) you just may have to change your board handle name from “Grumpy” to “Content” !!

Excellent start. Rest assured that things are just fine at home. As I look out the office window towards Lake Cow all I can see is heavy black clouds. Enjoy!

Thanks Larry...... I just got a photo from my daughter and it looks like it is still snaining out in Lake Cow...... Enjoy your trip

MMMMMMMMM……. Jamón Serrano and melon….. our regular in-home FAV, too!!
Here (in Florida too) but alas, January isn't a great month for getting really good melon here. Most right now is coming in from Guatemala, which does have good melon, but they pick it for the long shipment when it's far from ripe. On the other hand, I can get imported prosciutto di Parma, which (no offense to Jamón Serrano) makes a far better prosciutto e melone (if you can get past the price of the prosciutto di Parma at about US$25 / lb. and up)!
Any prosciutto di Parma in Z? I've never looked for it there. And ... any real mozzarella di bufala (water buffalo mozzarella) available in Z?
