An Evening Walk on Z Pier

Lupita and I like to stroll along the Zihuatanejo waterfront in the evenings. It's one of our little pleasures. We often take our chihuahua Lola with us and stop to sit on the pier to take in the sights of the bay. The pier is sadly not as well-maintained as it was last year when Fonatur was administrating it. But it's still a lovely place nonetheless, and the view remains one of our favorites.

The pier holds a lot of terrific memories for Lupita and me. It was a place she used to play as a young girl back when the pier was new and the water was crystal clear and kids would spend all afternoon playing and jumping in the water, some retrieving coins that tourists would toss into the water for them. It was also where we fell in love at first sight for the second time almost 25 years ago during the annual fishing tournament, a lovely treasure of a moment seared into our memories.

Nowadays we enjoy the coolness and the quiet of being out on the water after a long day working and tending to our seemingly never-ending chores. Listening to the sound of the gentle waves as they lap against the pier and slide upon the beach. Enjoying the fragrance of salty air and marine life. Watching the night herons, schools of fish, groups of youngsters, lovers, and families as they stroll along slowly enjoying the time and place. And watching the lights around the bay as they stretch out along the water in hypnotic and colorful dancing rays. It is always a beautiful place.

Loving thoughts are seldom expressed. So easy to say the common and negative. But words from the heart are a gift.

Also, when I walked past your casa this early morning there were 6 beautiful cats sitting at your window looking for breakfast. Would have made a cute photo.

I have 1 short trip to drop Kathie Dec 19th in Cincy to catch the Mega Bus to Chicago and I will go on to Columbus Oh and then my next trip is Jan 11 to Chicago to catch the United bird to Morelia and then to "Z" the 17th of Jan. We are suppose to have 40 deg F tomorrow and rain. Who knows because of the weather patterns getting stuck between the Ohio River Valley and the mountains here in the Blue Grass the land of "fast women and beautiful horses".
