Sail Fest

We are at the Pacifica Grand at the end of La Ropa Beach. When I got to the infinity pool this morning I saw the Pilot boat and a couple of other sail boats and realized that it was the beginning of forming up of all the boats. There is a area below the infinity pool that has been leveled off on the side of the hill about midway between the pool and bay below with hammocks. I walked down to the area and pulled a chair up close to the railing and watched as the pilot boat led all the boats in a circle numerous times until all of the boats were formed up. It was something to see as the line of boats were led out of the bay by the pilot boat. This was my first and hope not my last to see the parade of boats- I will remember the view for years. I could not have had a better view watching the boats line up. When I realized the boats were ready to head to Ixtapa I went back to the infinity pool to watch the boats make their way out of the bay. I felt lucky I had gone to the infinity pool from our room at the time I did. This trip has so many memories- after I get back home in Ky will try to put it on the log- the experience of Morelia and going to the butter fly reserve and the express luxury bus ride to "Z" and our 3 weeks at the Grand. Can't thank of a better place to be with the bad weather in the States.

Great report on the round up and lead out of the flotilla.
I'd love to see that…hmm…come down a few weeks earlier,
leave at the typical time (after Guitar Festival)…
…yeah, that seems fine!

Here's a shot of the boats all lined up out at the mouth of the bay (specks on the horizon)...and a few folks with front-row seats B-)

You know that for 300 pesos you could have been aboard? Come down earlier next year and sign up for a spot.

Paulf or anyone else-have there been any additions or changes at the Grand since last January?

I thank the biggest change is doing the barbeque on top of building 2 (2 bed room building)it is really a grill night on Thursday. It is nice with doing it there for it feels like you are just above the bay with nothing in front of you but the bay. Your cost depends on what you pick for your main course to be grilled. With the price you get soup, small salad bar and desert bar. Thursday night was full- reservations a must(everything is moved to the top for the night and taken back down after it is over. Pacifica has made a change to their Wed. night grill night at the Moon Bar. Same principle of soup, salad and desert with your main course but everything is served off skewers at your table(Brazilian Style) - you can eat as much as you want and I really love their ribs. Jimmy played Wed and what a evening with good food, the sound of the surf sitting out on the tables in the sand and Jimmy playing for a time. Being at the Grand you still get free transportation between the 2 resorts, they reduced the number of r/t. We checked out today and are at Villa Mercedes and love the location and the simplicity of the little hotel.

Jeff and Sally, isn't it great to be back again. I had to smile when I saw your photo. We are at the IRMA, and that is part of our family in the pool.:-) Great view. Keep your photos coming. Glad you got your camera back.
