And it's only Friday :-)

Well, this is the second night I will go to bed around 03:00! At least last night I could blame it partially on watching the Olympics. Not tonight! Fun times were had and it was a good thing I slept in and started the day with a good breakfast at Margaritas. Yes, I'm a bit partial to that place for breakfast. I have not found another restaurant here that provide this level of service and quality standard in their food delivery as well as a nice setting for breakfast.

When I got there around 11:00, it was packed with a few people waiting. Luckily I was by myself and 5 minutes later they got me a table. Lots of Valentines couples celebrating. This place is always doing well but this had to be busiest time I ever seen it. But the service was the same as the food. It was very enjoyable and after I was done came back to my hotel as someone was coming over to pick up a pair of sunglasses I had brought.

Then I tok it easy for the afternoon as I was a bit tired from yesterday and a bit of work to do and then had a late afternoon nap and then it was time to get ready for the evening.

Tonight, I was not ready for a big meal at a restaurant so went to Rana Rene on La Madera and had a serving of guacamole and tiritas with a beer while watching the end of the sunset. That place is always nice for that kind of food with reasonable prices, quick service and fresh fish.

Then back to the hotel to chat with my neighbours and then a stroll to downtown. A big festivity was going on at the basketball court with salsa demonstration for Valentines and I knew some of the dancers so it was nice to watch the talent. Then I had to drop by El Cafecito and meet friends that run the place and have a chat. One of the best coffee place in town. Quality beans, good roasting, fair prices and good service got me there in the first place and then found out it's really nice folks that run the place. Rashid and Andrea are a great couple and they run a smooth place.

Then met one of their friend and he informed me he was heading to the opening of a new spot on that strip, a block away from Casa Marina, next to Chuleto. It's a mezcaleria and I was impressede as I had seen them working at it ast night on my way back from El Mirador so I was surprised they were ready for opening tonight. We were joined shorthly by his girlfriend and we were there for a few hours, enjoying some mezcal drinks and making new friends and meeting a bunch of people. As some of the drinks were free and the owner is well known, the place was packed, mainly with a younger and well off crowd. A great time seemed to be had by all and hope the place does well as the ambiance was great. It was fun music, I enjoyed the look of the place and look forward trying some of their food to next time.

Now it's recovery time if I want to make it for breakfast. It's not easy keeping up with this pace. But just having too much of a good time is never a bad thing. And by the way, even if a lot of business is generated by Valentines Day business, it sure was nice to see every single restaurant on calle Adelita was busy. And talking with friends in the business and officials, numbers are definitively up in Zihua and Ixtapa. Not anywhere close to the numbers from the 80's and early 90's but there has been a steady increase for 5 years now. There is a visible increase of Canadians and a slight increase of Americans. And I even met a couple from Lithuania tonight...
