Had breakie/lunch @ Carmelita's today. Hijo had super thick hot cakes, but not the banana ones and he said they were better than I make. I said I hoped he enjoyed his last meal of our trip. Lol
I had, what else, chili relleno, still the best, as determined last trip. Going back for something with mole which they brought me a dish of to taste. Very attentive staff, fresh tortillas made to order right where you can watch. Clean & bright. I think it is the attention to detail that makes this restaurant so good. Nice decor, organized kitchen, fresh flowers everywhere, even the ladies room.
If you know where a Papa Loca is, Carmelita's is just a few yards past it. Enjoy!

I wanted to try this one and just ran out of time. Seems like my kind of food! I hope next year they are still around. It sure is a good combo PL and Carmelitas...

I agree and we are going there the morning we leave. Two years ago at the food fest Rick Bayless published Carmelitas as the best restaurant in Zihuatanejo.

I am certainly not questioning Rick Bayless, nor his opinion, but if you have not eaten at all the restaurants in Zihua...how do you know the best one?

You're right! I give it my best shot every time I'm here, but still haven't managed to try them all. I always say maybe next time. The fun is in the trying! The thing is, I'm walking several miles everyday, but don't seem to getting any lighter!

We keep trying also and our mileage varies from day to day, and the lighter side is still not happening for me either. The food is almost always good though so I guess there is a happy side.

Yep, it's a massive list try to get thru, but I sure enjoy the challenge! Looking forward to another culinary adventure tomorrow!

I find that Zihua has tons of good restaurants from small fondas to world class Kau-Kan style but for me I always go for the authentic flavor, the rest mexican cuisine and leave many good ones for other to try as I prefer the smaller places than the high-end spots when I come in vacation here. But I have yet to go anywhere in Zihua and find the food bad. But it's a very long list to work through and I try every trip to add a couple to my favorites...
