One would think what happens in Ixtapa would happen in Z. Also What would be good for Ixtapa would be good for Z.

Sort of. Ixtapa should remain the tourist development it was intended to be and Zihuatanejo should not be allowing time shares or high-density projects (or land invasions). That was the original understanding of how the two places would grow.

But then slimebag politicians got involved.

And as is plain to see, Ixtapa is administered by bureaucrats and professionals while Zihuatanejo is administered by politicians and their appointees.

Not ONE single land invasion exists in Ixtapa. Zihuatanejo has suffered over 50 and more every year especially before election periods.

The wastewater treatment plant in Ixtapa is always functioning perfectly. Not one of the 5 wastewater treatment plants in Zihuatanejo functions as it should (even though about 5 times the amount of money has been budgeted and "spent" on them in the past 12 years or so), and the only one partially functioning (La Ropa) is already overwhelmed and obsolete.

Now if only the Ejido de Zihuatanejo could get Fonatur to pay them for the 480 hectares they expropriated 41 years ago.

But hey, we got the Parque Lineal!
