Whales of Guerrero Research and Education Project: Season 2!

Hi Zihuatanejo lovers -

We had an incredibly successful pilot year in winter 2014 studying our local whales and dolphins, giving workshops in schools and libraries and teaching a handful of guides how to handle their boats appropriately around whales.

Our pilot year focused on Barra de Potosi and we did some workshops with teachers on how to teach biology well in Zihuatanejo. This year, we hope to expand our study to get a clear idea of how many whales visit Zihuatanejo, Ixtapa and Troncones, how they use the region and to teach local guides everything we know about best boat practices and humpback whale behavior and biology while also doing some really fun programs with kids in primaria and secondaria schools AND with YOU.

This project is a labor of love and is not funded by any big non-profit, university or company. We made it happen last year thanks to donations from the community and need to ask you again this year to support our work.

All donations are tax-deductible and we've got perks ahoy for all who contribute.

Here's a link to donor levels - you'll find all sorts of additional information on this website as well.

Please have a look around, donate what you can and write to me k[at]kpetunia.com with any questions.

Thank you! K
