Terrific! The Crystal Symphony is due this week. This could cause our only cruise ship of the season to cancel. All because our mayor has not given fixing the pier the attention it deserves. But according to his Segundo Informe last week one would tbe led to believe the pier was his first priority and that it was already fixed. Apparently not true. Darn! Lied to by a politician again! So what else is new?

But hey, we got the Parque Lineal and a useless roof over the Solidaridad basketball court.

Even though during his recent Segundo Informe our current mayor promised that our municipal pier was one of his first priorities when he was elected and that he gave it constant attention, the truth of the matter is that this government's only contribution to the pier was to remove its administration from Fonatur and to remove the structures that provided shading over the benches. Other than a daily sweeping the local government has literally neglected our pier to death (like it's done with the rest of our town), and with our first cruise ship arriving on the 24th the harm is compounded. The ship will likely cancel its visit and I almost hope it does because the decay of Zihuatanejo and our principal tourist installations are frankly an embarrassment that we should not want our cruise ship visitors to see. But our local mayor obviously has no shame. Almost every local agrees our town has never been in such poor shape. The collapse of the pier is just one of many blatant evidences of the fact that our mayor is inept and incompetent and unable to comply with the minimal requirements of his responsibilities. He should just resign!
