In what looks like the same modus operandi of the event
reported here a few days ago, the Marinos and the Policia
Federal arrested some guys in a car with Michoacan plates that were
looking for trouble.
It is good to see that the authorities are patrolling downtown
and looking to keep it safe for everybody.
Fortunately such events in downtown Zihuatanejo are extremely rare. Certainly much rarer than the daily violence reported in practically any US town of comparable size. In spite of occurring in the busiest part of downtown Zihuatanejo, no harm befell any innocent bystanders.
I don't see any similarity at all in any MO. Different car, allegedly stopped for being reported stolen, no holdup. I was right behind the Marinos and the Policia as they were combing downtown Zihuatanejo just a few minutes earlier. Lupita was in the mercado. It appears that what was reported isn't exactly the way it happened. I think the Mando Único comprised of the Policías Estatales and the Marinos were looking for these guys. The Mando Único seems to be smoking bad boys out of their hidey holes. Let's hope they keep this up.
The biggest irony is that our extremely disappointing mayor was posing for a photo op just two days ago with a bunch of other phonies declaring Zihuatanejo as a "City of Peace", amazingly the only town to receive such a "distinction" in ALL of Latin América. He is currently under investigation for his relationship with organized criminals.
