From downtown Zihua, where is the closest place to get a couple of pieces of wood for a small project?
Wood
Go to the intersection of Cinco de Mayo and Morelos. From this intersection, if you are driving, drive (or walk as if you are driving) towards Benito Juarez. On your right within about 20 yards, you will find a little driveway entrance into a lumber yard. They will cut anything exactly the way you want it. They will take good care of you. Review your Spanish- no English there.

I'll second that. I have used them for many years for wood products or take a drawing and gesticulate your needs if you do not Habala Espanol (I do not very well) and they will build it for you at a reasonable cost. Anything from a beautiful night stand to ladders, etc. Do NOT Consider Palma but a more durable wood (Pine or other more durable Madera) in my experience here near the coast where rot and deterioration is a certain problem. Ask them to treat the wood you buy or the product that they may make for you. Remember a drawing needs to be at metric scale- inches mean very little here and confuses the issue of communicating. 2.5 Cm/inch FYI if you are not aware.

When I go there (or the place I like better out on the edge of town towards the airport) I usually take my tape with me. Inches has never been an issue for them with me. They do a good job here in town but a little more cost.

Went by today and picked up a 2" by 5" by 7 foot long and paid 15 pesos. Hard to think you could get it any cheaper anywhere. Nice people.

Yes, very nice people.
