Another great vacation! Landed in Zihuatanejo on Thanksgiving. We all decided immediately that we did not want the traditional Thanksgiving dinner. Fish tacos and Tequila ended up our gullets.

Friday was the day to watch the sunset. It was glorious, bursting in every color across the sky.

Sunday we celebrated my girlfriend’s birthday all day and night. Every year for her birthday she treats the staff at the hotel to drinks after hours. We find a place to host the party and she invites all of the staff and their spouses and she pays for the entire party. This year we did it at Banditos, total count was 37! The party started at 10 pm and ended after 3 am….

We released turtles, did a day trip to Las Palmas, did some snorkeling out by a big rock in the middle of the ocean near Ixtapa. One of my friends was so fascinated by snorkeling with the sardines that we gave her a nick name for the trip “reina de las sardinas”.

We did our semi-annual pizza party on the beach on Thursday. We let the staff pick where to buy the pizzas and what to order. Because of course they were included in the party.

On Friday I went into town with my girlfriend to do some shopping. I purchased the cutest handmade stuffed toys for our grandchildren. When I went to purchase them the woman looked at my credit card and said I know you! It was Natalia from SPAZ. In all of the years of donations I have never met her in person. Funny thing she thought I was a man based on my name. It really meant a lot to me that she recognized my name.

Friday shopping ended with purchasing carnitas at the market for our final sunset party.

Today in Chicago I never saw the sun; it drizzled all day a very gloomy day. I so miss Zihua! See you again in May…

Thanks for that fine accounting of your derring-dos while in our fair port. You've got the whole Zihuatanejo vacation thing honed to a fine art! Those folks who work at the old Villa del Sol (sorry, I can't call it by its irrelevant Anglo name) certainly are fortunate for your visits.

And I love your photos. The one from your room will surely cause some envy. ;-) That sunset was just perfect! Made to order!

Really sorry I missed you all. But I look forward to seeing you in May.

¡Un fuerte abrazo y muchas gracias!

You do indeed know how to do one fine vacation in Zihua!

I just love how you include those who make your stay wonderful in your revelry.
Kudos to you for that!!

Sorry about the northern weather…we live most of the year on the other side of the lake and know all to well what it's like not to see the sun for months on end.

We have been home 3 days and still no sunshine. To make the situation worse I spent 8 hours doing my due diligence at an 8 hour tax law seminar today. Reality has just kicked me in the ass. I miss the beach, the sunsets, the culture and the slow pace of Zihuatanejo.
