Troncones
Looking at spending a couple of days in Troncones during our trip, any info on getting there from Ixtapa/Zihua would be appreciated, travel time, cost, where to catch transportation etc.
Also has anyone stayed at Mi Casa and how was it?
Thanks
Troncones
I have only gone there from the airport, so I can't help with the travel from Zih. But, I will just toss out a recommendation to also look into Casa de la Sirena as another option for accomodations. It is right near mi casa su casa, and is one of the best places on the beach.

Thanks, and what is the name of the property?

Sorry it was in your message, will look into it.
Thanks again

Getting from Zihua or Ixtapa to Troncones, you have two options. A cab or the bus. For a cab expect to pay around 450 to 500 pesos I believe. The bus is considerably cheaper but harder to do as you would have to catch it at MX 200 the old road in Ixtapa or in Zihua at various locations. If your bringing luggage I wouldn't do it personally. Once at Troncones you would have to take a Kombi into town to your destination.
As far as where to stay, it depends on your comfort level and what you want from your stay. Troncones has no night life and most places close by 10PM so no need to worry about that.
Mi Casa is very close to the center of town. On the beach, but the beach can be treacherous for swimming. It tends to get VERY busy around there with loads of tour buses and people, especially on the weekends or Mexican holidays.
I would be remiss if I didn't highly recommend The Inn at Manzanillo Bay. Gorgeous property on Manzanillo Bay, which is often the most swimmable beach out here and a surf break right out front. Very quiet and laid back. A great restaurant on site and an awesome General Manager...
Troncones Night Life
I beg to differ with you on the night life subject, Hunter. Okay it might be an earlier night life but it's there are things going on in Troncones...to name a few...Roberto's Tuesday night 7 pm and excellent band Imnun Xpresion (sp?) 60,70 and 80's Music, Thursday night starting at 5pm til maybe 10.. Max on Guitar...Friday night Salsa night at Hacienda Eden, Juanito Zihua is Thursday night at Present Moment and Saturday night at Robertos. Does Inn at Manzanillo Bay still do Tequila Tuesday? And there are more things at Present Moment like a Mexican Folk Dance Night ..I'm not sure which night. Man I get tired just thinking of all the fun things we can do here..and I'd love to do them all! Maybe not all in the same week.

It depends on when you are coming. I've only seen Mi Casa Su Casa very busy during Christmas and Easter and Mexican Holidays but so is everyone else. Also the main beach has very swimmable sections...I swim out in almost in front of house (a little to the south) every day and so do many people. As anywhere in the ocean be aware of rip tides..and know your limits.
There a plenty of awesome places to stay so check Robs list of rentals and maybe look on some other sights..like tripadvisor. Mi Casa Su Casa could be a great place to start and then explore around while you are here and see what suits you. They do have a nice restaurant looking out to the ocean. To answer the question though..I never stayed there. I've stayed at Hacienda Eden, Inn at Manzanillo, Raqueros, Regalo del Mar and Casa De la Sirena and all were wonderful!
Troncones Night Life
True to all of that. But like I said, they end about 10PM. Most people don't consider that night life. In this country a party doesn't even start til 10 and if it over by dawn then you are lucky...
Lot's to do out here for sure but not the thumping music of downtown Zihua til all hours, unless it is a birthday or quinceanera...

...or you may just check out Tres Mujeres Boutique Hotel, the number one rated resort / B&B by Trip Advisor Reviews, for the second year running. Check it out here - bit.ly/TMBHTTA

I would be remiss if I didn't DITTO the excellent manager at Manzanillo Bay Inn. Check it out. The bay there is the best for swimming in the area.

Tres Mujeres is gorgeous! And Bob is super helpful.
