Puts me in mind of a couple of my ventures into live volcanoes in Ecuador. Guagua Pichincha, about 15,000 ft, which we looked at out of the front windows of our house in Quito, was stinky and hot with all kinds of flora that I saw nowhere else in Ecuador. It blew ash and rocks up to 60,000 ft a few years later, closing the airport off and on for weeks. Sangay, near Baños, which was much hotter and far stinkier and made quite a lot of noise when we were there. It goes off frequently.
