Troncones
Hi everyone. We are coming back to Zihua in late March and we can hardly wait. We usually have trouble getting off of La Ropa so we are changing it up this year. We are going to spend our first week at Troncones. The last time we were in Troncones was about 20 years ago. Can hardly wait.....any suggestions? Restaurants included....Mid 50's in okay shape and stupid enough to try anything once.....have a nice night.
Troncones
Good work! 20 years?! It is a whole new world. First off, they have electricity all the way down to and past Manzanillo Bay! So, be sure to go down there. It's no longer a jungle. Home to great places and people (Hacienda Eden for a special dinner and the Inn at Manzanillo Bay for great food, views of the surfers, perhaps even a Tequila Tuesday). In closer to town there are many great restaurants....too many to just list. New ones pop up all the time and range from very inexpensive (Rufi's and Lourdes' are up there on the list) to more fancy and more expensive like Present Moment. The Burro is no longer there. Across from El Burro is Chencho's which is great. You must have a steak at Roberto's. Saturday night he typically has a turtle release and live music. First time in 20 years? The beach looks the same and that's about it. Have a great time!

Thanks Emmet. We towed along 4 kids....now aged 20 to 29....we can hardly wait.
Troncones
Can only add to Emmet's accolades. Been coming to Troncones since 2002 and love it more each year. Will add a few restaurant recommendations...Cafe Sol for fabulous breakfasts, artisan breads, pizza and everything else on the menu...La Mexicana for the best chiles nogadas ever (and live music I believe on Thursday nights), a takeout bakery on the main drag (can't remember name...Zuka, Yuka,??) with delicious chocolate cake to go. And the road is paved from the "T" almost all the way up to Manzanillo Bay...great for biking early in the morning or at sunset. If you eat at Inn at Manzanillo Bay try to make it when Belem (Hunter MX wife) is running the restaurant...she is a true gem and a wealth of information on the Troncones area. Now if only I could win the Megabucks lottery and return to Troncones tomorrow...sigh
Troncones
I can only add that theres lots of entertainment...Robertos has live music Tuesday and Saturday..starting at 7, Present Moment has music..thursday, saturday and sometimes sunday..also Folkloric Dance on Tuesday night..La Mexicana has music Thursday and Monday..Eden has music Friday and Sunday afternoon. Also theres Tequila Tuesday at Manzanilla Bay Inn with music. Whew..I'm gonna copy this and post next time ..if it doesnt change.
Troncones
Much quieter beach than La Ropa. Great for long walks on the beach. (take sunscreen, beverage and may be some snacks with you since once you leave town center there are few restaurants). You can rent body boards if not available where you are staying.
If you still need to work off some of the calories from the food, highly recommend Alejandro at Costa Nativa Ecotours - Kayak on La Boca lagoon for birding, or Hike along the river. If you search the message board using "Troncones kayak", you should find a link to our 2013 trip report.
Troncones
Thanks so much everyone. We can hardly wait. I can tell a week won't be enough. Have a good night.
