When we take our bike trips to Playa Linda we always stop on the bridge across the street from the croc pond. Way back in the trees there are large pink birds with with strange shovel shaped bills. Hard to spot as they stay hidden in the branches but once three of them took flight right over us. Beautiful and very bright pink. Can any of you birders tell us what these are?

That is a rookery where not only do the Spoonbills nest but several others nest:Snowy egret,Great egret,Green heron, and Boat billed heron. It helps if U have binoculars to see close up between the hanging Mangrove roots.....
Yep, Roseate Spoonbills. This was taken in the pen where the crocs are in December.

Not done with anything serious, just a 250mm and some careful footwork on the approach so as not to spook them. Them's some flamingos ain't they? They have a very chicken'y taste to 'em.

Used to see a lot of them posing in front of trailer park homes in Florida. They seem to be able to stand still for like ever.

Those ones don't taste so good though. Really tuff and they stink up the grill something fierce.
