Running in ixtapa
Hi.Coming to ixtapa in march..Was just wondering if it still safe to use the bike trail for running for like 5 miles out from the hotel zone...Thanks

We bike it two or more times a week and have had no problems. Lots of runners, walkers and bikers. Wear bright colors so you are visible in the shaded spots and you should be safe.

Many people here have gone walking all season to Playa Linda on the bike path. No problems that I have heard of.....

They also have 2-3 security that patrol on their bikes. You can also run along Los Viveros the other direction towards Zihua it is a beautiful area have you been that direction from the hotel zone?

Safe for running? Paseo de los Viveros
Has it been unsafe to run, or bike, or walk in Ixtapa lately, or ever?
I don't quite exactly understand the OP's concern.

It is one of my favorite things to do in Ixtapa. The bike path is marked in kilometers, 5 miles is 8km. So you can either go to km 4 and back - just before the entrance to the ecological reserve. Another option: run all the way to Playa linda 8km/5miles and come back by taxi or bus. Running on the ecological reserve is a fantastic experience.
Running on Viveros is very nice too, less challenging/hilly than the bike path, and also beautiful.
Best!

The ecological trail is the sidewalk from Ixtapa's Hotel Zone I to Playa Linda which is Ixtapa's Hotel Zone II.
For eating out please see my Visitors' Guide to Restaurants.

I've ran/walked it to Playa Linda and back 100's of times, never an issue. I also like to take the back way out to it by the Marina and thru the road on the golf course and it comes out on the road to Playa Linda.
I always wanted to bring my inline skates down but it just too hilly for me.

The Ecological Trail is technically called "Parque Aztlán", if you Google it you'll find many images and descriptions.
We own a condo in Ixtapa, not currently there unfortunately.
As far as eating out, it depends on your budget. At the Marina: Becofino (expensive), El Galeón and I know they opened a tapas bar. Also Fisher's is nice if you know what to order. In Ixtapa Soleiado is a favorite too as well as Emilio's Pizza. You should venture into Zihuatanejo, many more options and a nice stroll afterwards. We just discovered La Vita é Bela a wonderful, wonderful Italian. Try the Tepoznieves ice creams and sorbets if that is your thing, Bandido's is fun. A very, very nice meal and view at Amuleto all the way to the other end.
Enjoy your stay!
