Taxi Experience

I often take a taxi downtown in high season so I do not have to find a parking stop. The driver assumed I was a tourist because I spoke English to him. When we arrived at the cancha I handed him the fare with a tip and he said no and quoted me double what the fare was.I told him I live in Zihua and take taxi often and I know what the fare is. He said he charged extra for the air condition that I did not ask for and that he turned on when we were four blocks from the cancha. I got out of the taxi and shut the door and went on my way. I live here year round-spend my money here year round and do not intend to be taken advantage of by the taxis. We give generously to several charities and help people in need. If you need money ask me and I will do what I can but do not con me!!!! PS-- He did take the fare I gave him and the tip.

No I did not. I was so upset I just got out and left before I lost my temper and said something I would regret!

When I get that kind of experience, I usually call either Utaaz or Apaaz and complain. The taxi companies are very interested in keeping only the best drivers.
