While I am a huge fan of the Zihuatanejo International Guitar Festival, I want to draw your attention to this wonderful city's Community Band, the name of which I do not know. Last night we were whiling away some time before heading back over to Playa La Madera for the evening concert. We went to the pier and found the band practicing. You may have heard them the past couple of early evenings. If your nearby and hear them, please walk over and make a generous donation. It's things like this that make Zihuatanejo so endearing to us.

I would love to hear this group. Any idea how to find out when and where they perform. We will be there in 10 days!

I can't tell you anything about a schedule, but they have been practicing every evening this week at the foot of the pier, right in front of the Capitania del Puerto (Harbormaster) office. I have also seen a foto on this board of them playing near the Plaza del Artista.

Are you talking about, " Xpresion Inmune"?
Group consists of five with a female on keyboards.
If that is the group, they are fantastic. They'll be
playing at Barracruda tonight at 8:30.
Barracruda is located in the old Rick's Bar near the basketball court.
Look for the flashing colored lights!

Totally different group, Kim. Come down to the pier and listen to this "marching band". Not sure that is what they actually are but the practicing sounds like it.

Heard/saw them practicing a couple of times when we were there. Looked to me to be more a drum and bugle corps than a brass band. The percussion was quite good, the brass sounded a bit weak. We actually were able to hear them one night a La Terracita and one night at the Catalina. Their sound carries very well.

I was told they were a band made up of cadets for the naval station.
