Be advised that the municipal pier is now OFFICIALLY CLOSED due to the additional damage it received from the recent round of heavy groundswells. There was quite a bit of damage to the pier and the surrounding installations so until studies can be carried out to determine if it's still safe to use, boats may be using the smaller provisional pier behind the port captain's office for a while.

Because Zihuatanejo is a lawless town and no one can tell those boat operators what to do.

Just reporting from today's news what the "authorities" declared yesterday. I'm not surprised at all the the boat operators continue risking people's lives just because it's more convenient for them. Unfortunately capitalism rewards the greedy and the unscrupulous.
