Z Morning Skyline
May is the month of smoky skies and colorful sunrises due to all the farmers burning plots of land before the rains for the planting of corn. This is pretty much what our skies will look like every morning until the rains start and the vegetation becomes too wet to burn. For folks with breathing difficulties this time of year may be problematic, though it rarely gets as bad as the air pollution common in large cities. As the sun rises and the land heats up offshore breezes blow the smoky air away. Our rainy hurricane season officially begins on May 15th, so any day now we should get our first rain of the season. I just hope the season goes easy on us because with all the irresponsible unplanned urban growth and the building of roads and walkways all over our bayside hills, the downtown area floods faster than ever, and each year brings new unpleasant surprises for the residents and businesses of downtown Zihuatanejo.
This was beautiful this morning!
