They have the area roped off, 10 to 15 people sitting there making sure no other stuff goes on. I don't know for how long, but these people seem serious. They do not want anything cut down nor do they want some other structure there in the parking lot.

Water taxis were running earlier in the day. I don't
know about right now.

Lupita said she saw the city workers setting up to cut down the trees on Tuesday evening when she was there. That's how they do things when they don't want folks to be able to protest: they do it clandestinely under cover of darkness. Conniving lowlifes! "Un Gobierno inDiferente"

I'm just glad they organized themselves the next morning when they saw what was happening: workers setting up at 7AM, something almost unheard of. But then again, the workers wanted to rush to tear up the parking lot. The city government's lame explanations didn't satisfy anyone. Apparently El Chiquis and the other people had been planning this for 6 years or so. The city knew what was happening and simply tried to keep it quiet so they could accept the "fees" they were going to charge for the "permits" and "licenses", which is what bribes and payoffs are officially called these days.

Glad to hear the water taxis were running. The waves weren't so high as to justify closing the port as the Capitañía had announced he was going to do this morning.

Here's a video of a dramatic and potentially deadly mar de fondo event that took place in Acapulco on July 5, 2014. Not for the feint of heart.

One minute it's a nice calm day at the beach with tourists strolling along leisurely, the next thing you know...
