Things often happen so fast that if you weren't paying attention at the time then you missed it, because so many things happen in the blink of an eye.
Such as the red sunrise of a smoky morning seen through the doorway of a building across the street. Blink and you missed it.

Or an iguana using the crosswalk to get across the street. Blink and you missed it (and probably run over the iguana).

I did an iguana in yesterday by accident. Both the front and back wheel bounced right over him. He was quite a bit bigger than the one in your photo.

Your mind must've been elsewhere. Your attention must've wandered. Better the iguana than a child, because in the blink of an eye... THWAP!

Stir away. 
There were vehicles pulled off on both sides of the highway to what we believe was to pick up the dead Iguana. Better the Iguana than a person headed to get him. I did the right thing. No swerving for me and causing others to be injured. Thanks for your positive
