Taxis, again, but this time not a complaint

I don't know what has happened, but there has been a change in both attitude and pricing. And this is quite recent. My last visit in December things were as they have been for many years - expensive and disinterested in any kind of decent service.

But now! Prices are where they were about ten years ago. And all the cabs are quoting these lower prices. For example from outside the airport it has been running 250, but now is 200 or even 180. From my condo to a market was running 35 now 25.

I normally avoid cabs unless there is a true need, but with the new/old prices I use them far more frequently.

The exception is the cabs that use the trunked radio system, with the antenna on the front hood. They still seem to have higher prices.

The officially sanctioned rates are as appears on my Guide to Local Transportation page.

Your last paragraph sounds like one of the disco taxis. I refuse to use them. They have no right to charge any more than anyone else. If they insist on charging extra mention PROFECO, our consumer protection agency, and their prices usually fall in line quickly with the officially established fares.

I was in Zih in February and found taxi service much improved.
Pricing was normal, maybe only one attempt to get more than normal rate.
And ATTITUDE was so much better .. there actually were several drivers
who were so pleasant that I got names and cell no's for future calls.
What a nice change! (What happened?)
