Folks:
My wife and I recently purchased a casa in Troncones. We would like to have some cushions and pillows sewn up to use on our concrete couch. Can anyone please provide us with a referral to a good seamstress in the area?

Hi Brent,
I know an excellent person named Cesar who does great work. He has a shop in el Centro in Zihua, and has done work for me in the past, always of good quality and in a timely manner. His shop(sastreria) is slightly off the beaten path. I live fairly close by, so I would be happy to meet you in el Centro at a more recognizable spot such as the Elektra bus stop and then take you over to see him. Usually he works from 9 to 7, six days a week. He speaks broken English, but I can speak to him if you like (I speak fluent Spanish) and make sure you get exactly what you want, at a good price. We're due down on July 8th so be forewarned that I may very well be contacting you.
A request for advice: I had anticipated purchasing enough sunbrella fabric to cover my cushions and pillows up here in the states (Portland, or). I had also assumed that foam for the pillows and cushions would be available from the tailor/seamstress. Am I close?

Hi Brent, we're in Troncones and have Sunbrella cushions that were all made here in the area for us. We've also heard it might save some money to have the Sunbrella come from the states. Really not sure but we were in a rush when the house was being built so didn't have many options. Sounds like you will be there soon and would love to chat about our experiences and try to help. I like Luz Galindo also and she is located in Ixtapa. I also have used a man named Orlando Obregon who is the son of an upholsterer that helped everyone in Zihuatanejo in the old days. He has sunbrella and will order anything you want as he makes regular trips to Acapulco for fabrics. He knows to use foam strips of filler to keep your cushions softer, which to me is very important since all the others leave you sitting on rock hard cushions when you have the job all finished and did not realize until too late. He is located in the area near La Madera. Take a left at the street before the fire station and he is on the left corner at the end of the first block.
