Z Poor Old Pier
We deserve better than to see our municipal pier sit crumbling. Its days are numbered, though no one still seems to know what that number is. Nevertheless, federal officials assure us they haven't forgotten about us (uh huh). Each day we walk the pier we know it could be for the last time. Since the pier has been such an iconic symbol for Zihuatanejo as well as being personally important to Lupita and me, we agonize with it awaiting the attention it deserves to be rebuilt, to help restore some of our community's dignity. It's an integral part of the lives of so many of the long time residents.
¡Viva Zihuatanejo!

I hope the Federales don't look at your gorgeous foto Rob -they'll think that all's well with the pier!

You would think the Navy would want something done since they use the pier. Not much good to have a Navy installation with nowhere to dock.

Well, apparently instead of helping Zihuatanejo get its pier fixed, the bigwigs in the Mexican Navy worked on stealing and developing the hillside at La Ropa for their new luxury military barracks. Oh, the irony.
