Back when we were still making our living on eBay we used to visit Capula annually and load up on Catrinas. We kept a few of our favorites.

That would probably be Casa de Tierra. On Heroica Collegio Militar. They have great items but often are REALLY expensive though.

We were in Patzcuaro this week, there's plenty for sale.

I would think that some are made in Capula, a nearby village on the way to Morelia. Better prices than in Patzcuaro art galleries.

If you also like Catrinas of all sizes and dotted dishes, Capula is really the place to go to.

I've seen some at the Suaza gallery in El Centro, but you know the markup there. Otherwise, the closest I've seen was Uruapan. And Patzcuaro, of course, but also marked up somewhat in the galleries there.

We'll be going back to Patzcuaro again before too long next year. Happy to do some shopping for you. Let's talk over cocktail hour sometime soon.

We lived in earthquake country in So Cal, and know what to expeect, at least we hope. We have also been here full time for ove 6 years. That and having to put back together the "empty shell" we purchased here and have made into our "forever" home.

Most of our incredible Mexican art has been purchased from the artists in their villages over the last 40 years. Now, we are here, mobile, but no longer have a motorhome, and have pets.

Our oldest dog is 13 and is doing great. There isn't a place we feel good about leaving her with her 8 and 1 year old sisters while we search for our treasure.

So, back to my original query. Anyone seen what we are looking for within a reasonable distance?

A particular piece to live on top of our fridge. We know the style and size we want but are having no luck at all finding anything like it in Zihuatanejo, and have no clue where to look in Ixtapa. Maybe a high end hotel gift shop? If so, which one?

Anyway, something along these lines, at least 24 inches tall, taller better. Green, yellow, mixed, just beautiful. We have wanted one for years but didn't have a place for it.

Please, if you have any ideas, locally, please share them.

Consider that these things will rock and fall off and shatter into a gazillion pieces at the slightest jolt, whether from shutting the door hard on the fridge or from a mild temblor. Been there, done that.
