Mobility scooter/cart rental link is broken (reply)

Hi Rob,
Thought I’d follow the link to have this resource should I or my companions ever need it and found the link to be broken. I wasn’t able to find them on Facebook; so don’t know if they’re still around.

Thanks for the heads up. I tried all their phone numbers with no luck. Bummer.

Yes, increasing I have seen the curb cuts at intersetciins. While they provide a cosmetic indication of accommodating those with mobility challenges, I suggest they are largely cosmetic.

When the sidewalk space between the curb cuts is more challenging than the curb, I don’t think curb cuts offer much to those who have mobility challenges.

Is there anywhere in Zihuat or Ixtapa where you can rent a mobility scooter or cart for a week or two?
Traveling with my mother and it will be very helpful to get around.
Thank you for any help.

Please see the listing in my website for EZ Ride Scooter Rental. They should be able to fix you up so that getting around with your mother will be much easier. Good on you for bringing her to this beautiful place! I hope she likes it.

Mobility scooter/cart rental (reply)

I don’t think I have ever seen one of these in Zihuatanejo or Ixtapa. I’m not sure how useful one would be anyway.

My experience walking the sidewalks of Zihuatanejo is that with the numerous obstructions, bumps, dips, holes, venderse, etc. it is challenging enough walking on them. I can’t imagine trying to maneuver a motorized vehicle.

I don’t spend much time in Ixtapa these days, but I did for many years. I remember the sidewalks there as being particularly narrow. It was difficult for people to walk past each other. Again, I think it would be challenging to the operator to negotiate the sidewalks and problematic for anyone else who was trying to use sidewalks with motorized vehicles on them.

I suggest that trying to use one on the vehicle streets would be a serious risk.

If any mobility aid is needed, I suggest a manual “walker” might be better for all.

I think for the most part you are correct.
But on the other hand I believe I have seen on many streets, particularly in Centro, where there are 'cutouts' ( I don't know the exact term) or sections of sidewalks at intersections which are designed to allow for a mobility vehicle to cross. And I believe there are images of vehicles painted on these areas. I am fuzzy on these details. Perhaps someone with better recollection may comment.
