What a wonderful surprise to be awakened by the sound of rain sometime during the night. The rain was considerable, enough to wash away much accumulated dust, leaving Zihuatanejo brilliant with clean bright colors when the sun rose. Maybe the hills will turn back to a more vibrant green for a while. They've been turning more brown these past few weeks.

The relatively cool evenings we continue enjoying make for perfect sleeping weather for those of us acclimated to the tropics. If you live in A/C then no, you wouldn't notice or appreciate. But I've lived too long to the rhythm of the waves in Zihuatanejo's bay, so I have to be able to hear them at night to sleep well, and I love sleeping by an open window.

I fell in love with my wife again today. As soon as I opened my eyes this morning. The damnedest thing... She so makes me feel like the luckiest gringo in Mexico.

A place where stress simply doesn't factor into one's daily routine.
