Actually I went to Scotia bank a couple of years ago and they wanted it in pesos. That worked out great as this year my payment in pesos was over $1,000.00 pesos cheaper because of the exchange

We finally got our trust resolved and an answer from Amaranthia. We went through notary #4 Jamie was very helpful in resolving the issue. Now we are back on track. I believe part of the problem was a pregnancy issue but you would think they would have someone take her place, but then again this is Mexico.

I'm not sure that becoming a citizen to eliminate the trust works that well economically. I may be wrong, but think you have a separate legal entity as the seller because the trust holds the title and then you become the buyer as a Mexican citizen. You get to go to the notario and pay the title transfer and other fees, which may be a lot relative to paying the $500 a year trust fee.

This would be an excellent question to ask a trusted Mexican attorney. However, I have been warned not to trust Mexican lawyers and have heard horror stories from someone that I believe is telling the truth. My sparse interactions have been without incident. Can anyone comment on their experiences with Mexican attorneys?

Yet Another Lawyer Joke: Did you know that there are really one two lawyer jokes? Oh, yeah. The rest are all true stories.

You must live right!

Now that supposedly we are dialed in for payments, we will become citizens in the next year or two. It takes a while. Then, how long will it take to pay to eliminate our trust? Doesn't really matter, we are here and happy!

I never received an email invoice for my current year beginning September 2023. Not sure why and obviously there was no follow-up on my unpaid bill. Maybe it's because when you sell, the trust has to be paid so they'll get you at the end with additional late fees. I emailed Amarantha today and got a reply within an hour. When here, I've gone to the Scotiabank branch in Zihua and paid in dollars since my invoice is in dollars to avoid the bank's exchange rate. When in the US, I've mailed a check to their address in San Ysidro CA because they tack on fees to use a credit card or to send a wire.

Its amazing to me that such a poorly run business such as the Scotia Bank can stay in business. Everyone I know that has had the misfortune of dealing with this outfit has been given the run around. There are other properly operated banks around but that would exclude Scotia

Scotia Bank Fidocomiso Success!!!!!!

We have not been able to pay our fidocomiso fees since our house closed, August 17, 2017.

I tried everything, and never got more than a response every year or two from Amarantha.

Last summer, someone posted about Amarantha being out on maternity leave. I messaged her address, was referred to someone else, then when he was out, was referred to another, somewhere someone posted the name of a boss. So, for the last 6 months, during the first week of every month I have messaged everyone with my trust number, a short statement of what I was trying to do and asking for help paying it. After 3 months, Pablo messaged me saying that there was nothing since the trust was transferred in 2017, and he didn't know what to do about it. So, I attached my monthly message to everyone to his email. Over the holidays I got several more addresses when people were out of office and there was a referral address provided.

Yesterday I received a nice reply from Amarantha with the credit card payment form, the confirmation of our annual fee, of which we owed 6, no late fees, nothing, and it was copied to many other addresses within Scotia Bank. I promptly filled out the form and sent it back and copied it to everyone.

Today, I received another nice reply from Amarantha confirming the total due and stating that the credit card would be charged in the next couple of weeks and thanking us for our patience.

I thanked her and copied everyone on her response and my thanks.

I think we have success after 6 years. It pays to be a pain in the ass!
