Wednesday and Sundays are our normal days off. Tuesday was a normal exercise day. He has been walking for the last two weeks while I swim. Yesterday, OMG!!! I made it for my swim, both directions, but it was a bitch. It was SO COLD!!!!!

Fortunately today was our normal day off, and tomorrow we will dog, paddle and I will have to seriously think and feel the water before I swim.

It's COLD!!!! But we still love living in paradise!!!

Around 5:30 in the morning we had to close our windows because the city sent a worker with a leaf blower to "clean" the sidewalks downtown. Of course all he did was create clouds of dust and wake everyone up, but I suppose it's the thoughtlessness that counts.

Although the local newspapers report cruise ship passengers spent between $30 and $60 U.S. each, I suspect that's not actually true. There simply weren't that many passengers that didn't take a tour via luxury bus, and the few I saw carried no bags of local purchases. Our experience over the years has been that it's simply not worth it to expect sales to cruise ship passengers. Usually sales are down when a cruise ship is in port because a lot of vacationers already here avoid coming downtown on those days. Nevertheless, everyone here tries to be helpful to cruise ship passengers in the hope they return as repeat vacationers. Two more ships are expected in another week.

While the ocean water continues cold from the point of view of locals at 23°C, we continue seeing vacationers swimming and enjoying themselves. The bioluminescence continues if you watch the waves break at night or drag your foot across the wet sand. It doesn't happen everywhere, but usually in patches along the beaches. Hopefully the presence of so many dinoflagellates isn't a precursor to a red tide event.

Our weather continues to be absolutely sensational! Visitors continue getting much more than just their money's worth.
