Looking forward to watching the ship come in early in the morning. As many times as we have watched boats, it's always fun to see a big one come in.

Looks like we may have a different one come in on Saturday, too! Not holding our breaths.....

Large patches of red water have been spotted a few miles off the coast in front of Isla Ixtapa. It's most likely marea roja. Hopefully, it will remain offshore and not reach our bay or beaches. Keeping fingers crossed.

A reminder that the slow season of the year is when many people get laid off from lodgings, restaurants and other tourism-oriented businesses. It's also typically the time of year when we see higher incidences of holdups, robberies and burglaries. So just be aware of your surroundings, make sure your home or lodging is secure, try to stay among groups of people when walking about, and if you use micros or combis be prepared for holdups. Fortunately the latter has never been a big problem here, but it is in other parts of the country so we should remain vigilant, especially during the slow season. There is a noticeable police and military presence at the Cancha Municipal, which is reassuring, but they can't be everywhere. Personally, I'm glad to see the Marina looking out for us. They were the folks who policed and kept Zihuatanejo safe when I first lived here back in '74-'75, and they have always been the most trustworthy, as far as I'm concerned.

The cruise ship Norwegian Sun returns to Zihuatanejo Bay this Friday. It will be here from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Hopefully, besides taking bus tours, its passengers will want to patronize our local shops and make some purchases. Locals could sure use the business. The cruise ship Diana is scheduled to arrive this Saturday.

Besides the love of my wife who makes me feel like the luckiest Gringo in Mexico, I'm also quite fortunate to have so many readers who also make me feel very much appreciated, and I want to thank you most sincerely for your kind words when we've met while I'm out strolling around town. You folks make my day over and over, and I'm extremely grateful.

A lovely two-bedroom, two-bath open-air traditional home located on a low hill just a short walk from La Ropa Beach. Features a full-kitchen, daily maid service and wi-fi internet service.
