Big thanks to the lifeguard Iván Pineda for rescuing a U.S. visitor staying at Playa Blanca from the ocean after he got swept out to sea by a current this past weekend.

There are hardly any visitors around. This is a great time of year to visit. The water temperature is PERFECT. The weather is PERFECT. Most lodgings offer their lowest prices now. No crowds anywhere. For those of us who are here, it's like having the place all to ourselves.

Careful with your water. Rivers are dry and supplies are low. Some colonias haven't seen any city water in their homes for weeks.

This is the time of year when we see more garrapatas and alacranes, so keep your eyes out, and in the case of alacranes always shake out your shoes and clothing before putting them on.

We've been enjoying the music of a violinist who's been playing for change in Plaza del Artista these past few evenings. A talented musician. Stop by and enjoy his music if you're in the area.
