Work has begun on dredging and removing the sludge from Laguna Las Salinas, and as soon as the dredging starts, all the beaches in the bay will become unusable, so enjoy these wonderful final days of a beautiful bay with crystal clear water. If the rains don't muddy things up soon, the dredging will. Let's see if the mayor remembered to get a Manifiesto de Impacto Ambiental this time. Last time he didn't, and the federal government halted the project and they lost more money than the cost of buying all new equipment for the project (it was rented equipment last time), a bill footed by the taxpayers, not the inept oafs who didn't do their jobs right.

Still hardly any tourists around, though a few showed up at our boutique today, thank goodness. But the downtown beach remained mostly empty, and this Thursday evening most folks are watching the Liga Mexicana de Futbol FINALS between Cruz Azul and América, so don't be alarmed when you hear loud cheers rolling through the hillsides.

Un grupo de jóvenes bailan en la playa con su música mientras sale la luna llena sobre la bahía de Zihuatanejo. Esto sería prohibido en las playas La Madera, La Ropa y El Palmar (a menos que la música fuera de algún restaurante, un doble estándar). Qué lástima, ¿verdad? Porque se divirtieron mucho y no molestaron a nadie más.
