The smoke was worse this morning as I had predicted. And there were more fires today that will likely make things even worse during the night and Thursday morning. Fortunately there was a nice breeze once the sun came up this Wednesday and it continued throughout the day until the evening. This pattern will likely keep repeating itself until we start getting some rain in the region. So hunker down and make the best of it. It's not a good time for outdoor exercise. Please remember to stay hydrated.

We really notice all the new cement and missing trees with the current weather situation and the increase in ambient temperature instead of measures to provide relief from the climate change and global warming. The rivers are dry and in bad shape because the cement companies, including that of Zihuatanejo's mayor, have illegally been removing rocks and material from the river beds and allowing the extraction of what little water manages to puddle up to water the palm trees that are sold at exorbitant prices to the city to replace the shade trees they cut down to pour cement. It's a scam that's been going on for years that people like me who care will continue denouncing. It's also one of the reasons there are parts of town that have been without city water for over a month.

The water in the bay and along our coast remains fairly calm and very clear, perfect for swimming, snorkeling and diving. Apparently the fishing hasn't been too bad either. But there aren't enough people to buy what the fishermen are catching, leaving many fishermen without any way to sell their product. Please consider buying your fish fresh and direct from our local fishermen in the morning at Zihuatanejo's downtown beach. They are the heart and soul of Zihuatanejo, and a little love goes a long way.

Speaking of snorkeling and diving, this is the best time of year for diving and snorkeling, before the rainy season when the water is as clear as it gets. Se puede ver mucho humo de los incendios de los tlacololes durante las mañanas últimamente en la bahía de Zihuatanejo. Una situación que probablemente continuará hasta que empiezan las lluvias de la temporada que aún no han llegado.
