If the map in the link is accurate, Zihuatanejo is "moderate drought". The area just south at the airport is in "severe drought". Acapulco is in "extreme drought".

I worry about our water supply when las turistas start arriving in high season.

The good fishing continues in Zihuatanejo. A shame almost no visitors are here to enjoy it or our beautiful beaches and absolutely picture-postcard-perfect weather. NOW is the time to be here. Everything is green and lush. This Tuesday there was a nice breeze most of the day. The picturesque rain clouds in the sierra and off the coast over the ocean make a fantastic backdrop for almost any photo. It's hardly rained so far this hurricane season, and this month is the peak of the season. No tropical storms in sight.

The ocean has been extremely calm recently. There were few small waves in the bay today, but at times it's been so calm you could water-ski on it. The majestic Pacific!

Our daughter spoiled us again today with a delicious pasta dish and another fabulous salad. She makes all her own sauces and dressings and is a terrific cook, so between my wife and our daughter who both spoil me rotten, I tend to give some credence to the rumor that I'm the luckiest Gringo in Mexico.

Whether you want to go whale watching, sportfishing, sightseeing or snorkeling, my friend Capitán Ramón Olea of the panga Oleaje offers an affordable adventure waiting to be enjoyed. Ramón knows all the local fishing and snorkeling spots as well as what else is worth seeing. His 24' covered panga doesn't offer much luxury, but his expertise in fishing and his local knowledge of our coast and its marine life is second to none! Ramón practices "catch and release" fishing when possible.
