The streets of Zihuatanejo seemed abandoned for most of the day. Not just because folks were eating pozole, but because there are practically no tourists around. There were maybe a handful of people at Playa Principal today. Most of the people we saw along the waterfront during our evening stroll were friends and family, whom we're always happy to see.

Weather permitting, the danzón dancers will be in Plaza del Artista this Friday evening beginning right around sunset time. They dress up quite nicely to dance to their lovely music. Come enjoy this beautiful old Zihuatanejo tradition that goes back generations. Of course you're welcome to dance. Just pay attention to how the danzón dancers move, and you should be able to get the hang of it. They are very welcoming and kind people who will make you feel at home among them, so don't be shy.

Speaking of weather, this Thursday was another absolutely picture-postcard-perfect day in Zihuatanejo and along our coast. Cloud cover in the morning helped keep the temperature down, and a gentle breeze full of heady tropical fragrances throughout most of the day kept beachgoers comfortable. The local forecast calls for a high chance of rain for the next several days. Let's hope we don't get any diluvios like other parts of central and southern Mexico have been seeing.
