We had a brief rain just before sunrise this Friday, which made the morning cooler and more fragrant with the scent of wet sand and earth. Later in the day the humidity and lack of breeze downtown made this Friday feel quite muggy and hot. This evening there's a huge thunderhead with lightning flickering around it to the east-southeast, so we may get some rain shortly unless it peters out.

Still hardly any visitors around. The restaurants that are open along the waterfront sit mostly empty, several are currently closed for varying periods.

After having to wait over an hour for some unannounced school event in Plaza del Artista to finish, the danzón dancers are finally enjoying themselves this Friday evening with their lovely music from yesteryear in keeping with an old Zihuatanejo tradition going back generations. As always, folks are welcome to come watch, listen, learn and participate if they like. The dancers are very friendly people.

Don't forget to visit the Eco-Tianguis Sanka every Saturday morning from 9 to 1:30 downtown in the small plaza in front of the Vicente Guerrero school across the street from the Museo Arqueológico de la Costa Grande. They always have excellent homegrown and home-made foods and products as well as locally grown coffee and locally made mezcal. There will also be good music as well as educational and cultural presentations. Always a wonderful experience.
