A few visitors showed up today, many by the busload, and dozens of people spent the day swimming and sunning on the downtown beach, whose sand city workers are currently sifting and cleaning, at least in front of the museum. Unsure if they intend to do the entire beach, but I hope so. Like all our beaches, it's full of cigarette butts and plastic caps and other things that are either thrown away or that wash down the canals from the streets and hillsides.

So much fun and happiness all along the waterfront this evening. Everyone is smiling. Some are dancing. Some are singing. People enjoying life, and that's what Zihuatanejo is all about. One of the reasons we love living downtown and being able to enjoy this every day.

Don't forget to come enjoy the fresh foods, festivities, arts and crafts at the Eco-Tianguis Sanka this Saturday morning from 9 to 1:30 in the plaza of the Vicente Guerrero school across the street from the Museo Arqueológico.

So now alcoholic beverages are prohibited from the illegal ecocide now known as El Capricho del Rey Jorge. Locals are rightly upset. Might as well just privatize it openly and get it over with. So now you can't even walk to Las Gatas with your own alcoholic beverages. What used to be a lovely natural and shady public walkway is now a hot cemented over restricted area. A real bummer for Zihuatanejenses.

Looks like we may have some rain moving through the area early next week. It's pretty cloudy this Friday night, and it looks like it's raining in the sierra. Maybe we'll get some of it.
