I made contact with Johnny Ca$h, via WhatsApp.
His communication was quick and responsive, with pictures of options and prices, including the mandatory and additional collision, theft, etc. He had been on my radar, and your recommendation matched what I had come across on FB groups.
A big plus is doing business with a local company.
Thanks again.

The bus is an attractive option, however, for me, it is the freedom and spontaneity factor.

Thanks to all for your input.

I wholly agree with taking the bus. No stress the bags are secure the seats are comfortable, you can literly put your feet up. If you want to see the monarchs pay for a small van to pick you up take you there bring you back let someone else deal with all the topees. And I assume it is similar to the last time I did it WAYYY cheaper.

Your direct messaging is not set up, so I’ll be brief and discrete publicly. I have rented from pretty much all of the standard big companies at the airport over the years. I have found the quality to be highly variable based on the individual I was dealing with.

In recent years I have rented from Jonny Rumba at Jonny Ca$h, just outside the airport entrance. I have found him to be above board. No surprise fees. I tell him well in advance what my driving needs will be and he has provided a suitable and serviceable vehicle.

I note that the link on Rob’s site is broken.

Last Jan/Feb, during our 6 weeks in Zihua, we spent $1000 Canadian on taxis. We're thinking of driving down this coming season, (it would be our 9th or 10th time driving down), recognizing that, over- all, driving is much more expensive than flying.
That said, your comments on the "cons" of driving ones vehicle in Zihua are accurate. Still.....

A driver probably wouldn't work for us as we plan to spend 5-6 days in the area.
